Following the Covid19 lockdown in March 2020, I planned to relook at work that I had previously started. For this piece it seemed very poignant given the current situation of social distancing. However with the title 'The Way They Were' also holds underlying and multiple ways of being viewed and understood. I completed the work in April 2020.

Who Cares Now?
This is a set of work that I have been working on whilst the Covid 19 Pandemic has forced me away from my studio at:
Koppel Hive, London
When I read about the 180 Health Care Professionals that died as a result of Covid, May 6th 2020 I wanted to create an artwork to reflect this tragedy. A testimony to our Key Workers.
Sadly the number increased and to date I have painted/ drawn 216 portraits but have 22 works where I could not find an image of the worker. I have marked these by their Job title and Initials.

NHS Portraits for Heroes
I was approached by Art Chisel Gallery to offer my services to an NHS frontline Key Worker to create a portrait.
I quickly found myself being overwhelmed by requests so agreed to take the first two amazing doctors who contacted me Lizzie and Victoria.

From Koppel Central Back to Koppel Hive!
The pandemic has had a huge impact on many businesses and The Koppel Project is no different. Having been forced to close their studio doors they were the faced with the closure and redevelopment of their Soho site. Very sad but when your work centres around transience it becomes part of your expected life/work scenarios.
