Proposal to exhibit
Tom's Etching Studio, Hackney Wick, London
Through opportunities posted on Facebook on UAL Wimbledon's MFA page I identified this open call as a possibility. I posted it on the year group’s Facebook page and had four people respond. The deadline was very tight so I contacted the four group members and we had a meeting very quickly to discuss how we would go forward. I offered to project lead again and this was accepted with no challenges. I submitted a proposal for a five person group show.
I felt that this was an excellent opportunity for a small group to work together and a good test bed for any future projects and opportunities. For this show I had to propose job roles for the group and we quickly identified the roles we would like to embrace.
We were invited to a 30 minute interview with the Co- managers of the Studio (one of whom is *Jenny Judova author of How to Approach a Gallery) on Saturday 27th February and asked to put together a PowerPoint presentation showing and abiding by the following:
Images of previous projects and exhibitions including installation views, and photographs from the private view.
Images of work by everyone involved in the exhibition
Any ideas of how you are planning to promote the show. If you are planning to do this through social media please have the numbers of your social media following.
Please bring a laptop/ipad/tablet to show the presentation
Work cannot be sold during the show
*We had an opportunity to meet Jenny Judova prior to the interview. She was presenting at an artists talk promoting her new book 'How to Approach a Gallery'. It was a fascinating, informative talk and made the prospect of the impending interview even more exciting, Jenny Judova is a person to know as her knowledge base about galleries, project spaces and artist run space is immense. Jenny is studio manager at Tom's Etching Studio and also director of Art Map London.
Delighted to say we were offered an exhibition space at the interview. Date to be confirmed mid March.
