New Studio Location

At the end of 2022 my studio buddy and I moved with The Koppel Project to a new site, still within the City of London, The Koppel Bank. It is yet another transitional location but for now we are delighted with the new space and have settled in very well.

About the Show

“Art is the imposing of a pattern on experience, and our aesthetic enjoyment is recognition of the pattern.” – Alfred North Whitehead

Presently, in our multifaceted, complex, over-saturated world, and lives, countless events and phenomena emerge and vanish. Artists express their individual views using different approaches, materials, styles, evaluations, and conclusions. The visual results are sometimes revealed as abstract symbols through both their formation and colour unravelled by means of the combination of countless repetitious enquiries and physical strokes. For an artist to observe the world they align their intentions through relationships, configurations, that are periodically recorded in specific shapes, tones and colourful shades. These lines can be both literal, meandering or simply implied, leaving the artworks open to different interpretation through multiple layers and traces of time suggested by the artist.

‘Reading Between the Lines’, is a collaboration between seven London-based artists. Through their individual art practices, they apply different forms, textures, and mediums, from their singular viewpoints, including both the physical and metaphorical structures existing in society, the characters living in them, as well as the psychological state they hold. This collaboration engages with the individual artist’s distinctive approach using a variety of materials which manifest in the form of painting, drawing, abstraction, figuration, satirical illustration, collage, textiles, sculpture, and installation.
