A self-initiated, project through SUArts. For this show I project led, fund raised, marketed and organised the invigilation of the show. By collaboration with my peers I delegated the curation, logistics, risk assessment and production of the press release.
There were 28 artists in total. As part of the run of the exhibition I negotiated an artists’ talk to coincide with the Private View which would fall on the first Thursday of the month I knew that this would attract the local Sevenoaks Art Forum that meets on this day.
This show was the first opportunity for the MFA group to exhibit offsite. As project leader I had to submit a proposal for the space. I felt that this was an excellent opportunity for the group to see how we work together and a good test bed for any future projects and opportunities. For me this was the first opportunity to manage so many people, which I knew would throw up some challenges. Organising meetings and agreeing on the format of the show held its own dilemmas but the consensus was that we keep it simple since the space available is so small. So the thought was to keep a unity of size within the work rather than a thematic. It kept the works democratic.
I selected a curatorial team, someone to cover the risk assessment, funding and press release. Additionally, I organised marketing and invigilation rota.
