Elizabeth Murton & Griffin Gallery
Personal and Professional Development
Through the UAL Post Graduate Community I have taken up a number of opportunities. This was definitely the most productive, informative, helpful and enjoyable of the PG opotunities so far. Here was a chance to interact with 10 other UAL peers, from different campuses, with both present students and alumni. It brought together current students and recent graduates. This created a vibrant mix of different disciplines from sculpture, expanded painting, photography, participatory art, research projects, auto-destructive art. This rich diversity of practices and perspective really enriched the events.
Brought together intially by a written submission via Elizabeth Murton with a thematic of 'Space & Place' all of the artists had very different rationales, practices and knowledge bases. Over three evenings we were given the opportunity to engage, present and exchange ideas through discussions, written texts, and critiques. A really generous and hugely benficial time had by all. The group have also talked about continuing our discussions and working towards a show collectively.
Additionally we met at Griffin Gallery and interacted with the gallery staff, some of whom I had already made contact with through social media so great to actually get to know them in person. Through this I have been invited to interact with a number of other events and opportunities.
